As a Human Rights Advisor at Article One, Sophie supports the team on a range of projects with a recent focus on the tech sector, helping to conduct human rights impact assessments on topics such as fake news, misinformation, and responsible AI development. Sophie is particularly interested in exploring where opportunities for collaboration and mutual benefit lie between the human rights space and Silicon Valley.

Outside of her engagement at Article One, Sophie is a student at UC Berkeley and 2018 Human Rights Center Fellow at Berkeley's Boalt School of Law. She also serves as the External Vice President of the Anti-Trafficking Coalition at Berkeley, a student organization that works to combat human trafficking through education, advocacy, and collaboration with organizations at the forefront of the Bay Area anti-trafficking movement.

An Oakland native, Sophie’s interest in human rights was sparked at an early age when she learned of prevalence of human trafficking in her local community, and she hopes to bring her knowledge and experience in the anti-trafficking movement to her work with Article One.

Sophie is currently pursuing a BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley with a minor in Global Poverty & Practice. She plans to graduate in the spring of 2020 and begin a career in human rights.
