Marissa Saretsky has spent the past decade promoting and advising on human rights and sustainability management for companies, governments, and multilateral organizations in the U.S and Europe.  As Associate Director at Article One, Marissa advises clients on human rights and sustainability strategy and management, through due diligence and impact assessments, training, employee and stakeholder facilitation, and research. Marissa’s clients have included Chiquita, Intel, Hasbro, Telstra, and Barrick.

Previously, Marissa worked as a Manager in Business & Human Rights at Gap Inc. where she developed strategies and programs to mitigate human rights risks across the company, and most notably in the supply chain. Responsible for ensuring the company’s alignment with and implementation of the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights and the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, Marissa led cross-functional work groups to drive change, and engaged closely with senior-level internal and external stakeholder audiences.

Within the Climate Change & Sustainability Services practice at Ernst & Young in Paris and San Francisco, Marissa managed project teams and worked extensively on the design, deployment, and evaluation of environmental and social projects.  Her main focus areas included sustainability strategy and policy development, responsible supply chain management (including conflict minerals due diligence), environmental impact accounting, and sustainability reporting services.  Her clients included HP, Intel, Cisco, World Bank/IFC, Sanofi-Aventis, Renault and the cities of Nice and Narbonne.

Marissa received her Master’s degree in Sustainable Development from the Institut d’études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), and graduated with Honors when obtaining her BA in International Relations and French from New York University.  Marissa is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and is bilingual in French and English.
