Analyst, Human rights
The Analyst, Human Rights plays a key role in delivering on the company’s mission by supporting consulting projects and driving operational effectiveness. We are looking for an Analyst with an entrepreneurial and collaborative disposition, recognizing that as a small, but growing firm, Article One typically takes an “all-hands on deck” approach.
Article One works with companies across a range of industries and geographies, working to advance corporate respect for human rights. The Analyst’s primary focus will be on supporting client projects, including through research, analysis, stakeholder interviews, and logistical support. The remaining time will be focused on operational efficiency (30%) by supporting on administrative and operational needs.
The Analyst role is a full-time position, based in Article One’s Berkeley, California office. The role may require up to 30% travel. This is an exciting opportunity to someone eager to work in the business and human rights field and looking for significant growth opportunities.
Project Support: The Analyst will support client projects, including:
Conducting research and analysis, including benchmarking industry approaches to human rights and reviewing relevant reports to provide contextual analysis to project work;
Conducting interviews with corporate clients and external stakeholders including both NGOs and communities;
Drafting internal and external documents and communications;
Planning and coordinating workshops and other events.
Operational Effectiveness:The Analyst will spend 30% of his/her time supporting Article One’s overall operational effectiveness, including:
Supporting administrative tasks such as booking travel and managing expense reports
Providing logistical support for Article One events, including Article One In Action events.
The ideal candidate must be passionate and knowledgeable about human rights and sustainability, believe in the power of business to drive positive impacts, be able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, and bring a client service mentality. Specific expectations include:
Demonstrated expertise in human rights, sustainability, or a related field;
1-3 years of relevant experience;
Bachelor’s Degree in political science or other relevant field;
Ability to conduct research and analysis suitable for a business audience;
Strong oral and written communication skills;
Ability to undertake business travel about 30 percent of the time;including international travel.
High ethical standards, passion for human rights, and a humble, collaborative, and empathetic approach to engagements with colleagues and clients.
Spanish language skills a strong plus
